About the event

Kip Marlow is a “Recovering Entrepreneur”. He founded Marlow Surgical Technologies in 1976, a company that marketed surgical instruments, throughout Europe, Japan, and the United States. After operating it for twenty-two years, with revenues in the millions, he sold it to a New York Stock Exchange organization, the Cooper Companies, for well into seven figures. After that, he worked with Cooper Surgical for two years as an Executive Vice President. But corporate life wasn’t for

him, so he re-entered the professional world, counseling and mentoring budding entrepreneurs. This led to the launch of his radio show, “Entrepreneurs Club Radio” on WELW radio in Willoughby, Ohio, where he interviewed hundreds of successful small business owners for over six years, including Tim Westergren, founder of Pandora Radio.

Subsequently, Kip wrote the book, The Entrepreneurs: Success and Sacrifice, which sold well over 4,000 copies and was used as an adjunct textbook in community college entrepreneurship classes.

In the first quarter of 2024, he will publish his second book, Rebels with a Cause: Small Business Stories from the Trenches. His purpose in writing these books is to encourage, promote, and teach entrepreneurship everywhere.

In 2018 he started the Raymond C Kralovic Center for Entrepreneurship, aka LakeStart®, an all-volunteer nonprofit organization. Dr. Kralovec was the co-founder of STERIS® and passed away too early in life. It’s now a multi-billion-dollar organization. LakeStart® covered the Northeastern part of Ohio, fostering many companies,

creating over 200 jobs, and building wealth for the small business owner, his family, and for the community.

In 2018, Kip partnered with friend Jerry Cirino to start MyBoardAdvisors, LLC®, a small business advisory group. Mr. Cirino was a Founding CEO of Source One in Mentor, Ohio, a private equity CEO of three other companies, and is now an Ohio State Senator.

Kip is a Willoughby South High School graduate in Willoughby, Ohio (1963) and of Bowling Green State University in Bowling Green, Ohio (1967). He loves baseball, Civil War history, and reading good books. His all-time favorite book is “Atlas Shrugged” by Ayn Rand.
